A Washington Post op-ed by Stephanie Wilkinson, the owner of a farm-to-table restaurant in Lexington, Virginia, justified violence against people if they’re an “unsavory individual.” Wilkinson became famous in June of last year when she refused to serve White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders and forced them to leave her restaurant.
In the op-ed, Wilkinson discussed the case of The Aviary, a bar in Chicago where a waitress spat on Eric Trump. Wilkinson concluded that “new rules apply” to the public discourse and that “unsavory” individuals should stay home rather than be spat on. In other words, Wilkinson believes if she decides you are “unsavory” then you are accepting the risk of being assaulted when you leave your house.
Every sane person understands that speech should not be met with violence. Contrary to what Wilkinson believes, new rules do not apply; new rules should never apply in this subject. Just because more people are becoming violent does not mean the rules have changed, more people are just breaking the rules. The majority of both the right and the left will agree there is no room in public discourse for physical violence of any kind.
Two things must happen in order to push back this oppressive leftist movement that is sweeping the globe and quickly infecting our political process. The citizens of this nation must unite on common ground, in support of the constitution and not ideologies. Second, this united front must separate itself from the two party political monopoly held by the DNC and the RNC.
Right now the DNC has moved so far left that they are advocation for a completely different political structure to our country, centralized within an enormous federal government that does not recognize the bill of rights as it pertains to all people and their own beliefs separate from the activists in government.
At the same time, the RNC establishment members only function as regulators of the speed at which the government moves left. They aren’t stopping the movement, they are only regulating its speed. Which means we are moving left, away from the structure of the constitution regardless of who’s in charge.
