President Donald Trump’s personal assistant, Madeleine Westerhout, stepped down from her position on Thursday after Trump learned she was leaking information to the media.

According to the New York Times, Westerhout, who has been Trump’s assistant since his first day in office, departed suddenly and unexpectedly “after Mr. Trump learned on Thursday that she had indiscreetly shared details about his family and the Oval Office operations she was part of at a recent off-the-record dinner with reporters staying at hotels near Bedminster, N.J., during the president’s working vacation, according to one of the people, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss White House personnel issues.”

Westerhout would regularly share picture of her life in the White House on her private Instagram account. Her office sits in front of President Trump’s office and she had unique access to President Trump and important information.

Westerhout, who is a former Republican National Committee aide and worked for Mitt Romney’s 2012 presidential campaign, reportedly cried on the 2016 election night because she was so upset over President Trump’s victory.
