Iran Tries and Fails to Steal British Tanker in Persian Gulf

As expected, the Iranians embarrassed themselves when again.

Five Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps gunboats tried and failed to seize a British oil tanker in the Persian Gulf on Wednesday. The gunboats were deterred by a nearby British warship that intercepted the Iranian gunboats and threated to open fire.

This comes in the same week a commander in Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards, which is labeled as a terrorist organization by the United States, Hossein Nejat, threatened the United States. “American bases are within the range of our missiles… Our missiles will destroy their aircraft carriers if they make a mistake.” Commander Nejat said, “Americans are very well aware of the consequences of a military confrontation with Iran.”

This threat is just one of many threats that Iran has directed towards the United States as they have, on three occasions, attacked U.S. oil tankers and drones in the Strait of Hormuz.

As expected, the Iranians embarrassed themselves when again. It looks like the Iranian Republican Guard has lived up to the reputation of all the other “Republican Guards” that we have faced in the Middle East.  All hype and not very advanced in their tactics.
