On Thursday night in Philadelphia a carjacker ended up dead after the thief’s attempt did not go as planned.
According to WCAU, Officials said a 25-year-old woman was traveling with her three children Thursday when she stopped outside a pizza shop on 29th and Dauphin St. at about 9 p.m. to visit her boyfriend, who worked at the pizzeria. She then went inside the pizzeria and left the car running with her children waiting inside.
That’s when the 54-year old carjacker entered the car and drove off. Investigators say the boyfriend chased the car on foot and was able to catch up when the car got slowed by traffic. The 25-year-old boyfriend pulled the carjacker from the car and a short chase ensued.
According to WPVI, Philidelphia Police Chief Investigator Scott Small said the suspect “fled on foot about a half a block. And the boyfriend caught up to him and there was some sort of physical struggle that ensued… Then other males from the neighborhood intervened and began punching and kicking the male who took the vehicle.”
An hour later, emergency services were on the scene to find the carjacker unconscious. He was then taken to Temple University Hospital where he was pronounced dead. I guess he picked the wrong family to carjack and the wrong neighborhood to do it in.
