Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez plans to hold party fundraising events in Mexico City next month. He will participate in three separate events in Mexico City on September 28th, according to invitations obtained by Bloomberg News.
The registration form on the DNC website states that attendees must be U.S. permanent residents or citizens and enter passport or green card numbers in order to register, since it is illegal for foreigners to contribute to American political campaigns. Ironically, requiring this level of identification goes beyond the typical bar the Democrats expect for voting.
The DNC website does not explain, however, why they are holding a fundraiser in the capital of Mexico if only U.S. permanent residents or citizens may attend. It seems very unlikely that they are going to even attempt to be successful in stopping people from the country they are holding the fundraiser in from giving them money, there is no real incentive for them to prevent that.
This absolutely should not be allowed. Couple this foreign money influence with the fact that the DNC will be (hypocritically) requiring photo ID’s to get in, and you have a perfect picture of who the DNC really is.
